I live in a neighborhood where most families have a baby nurse for 6 months-1 year after giving birth. The nurses always look like they have it all together- the babies seem well behaved, calm and scheduled. My babies have reflux/gas/colic for the first few months and I can’t put them down or get out with them much. In your experience, if you had a difficult baby and a baby nurse, was the nurse able to work magic on your baby or did she struggle?

Yep magic. Had for 3 weeks, colicky baby. It’s not like he never ever cried but she was so on top of it. I don’t know how she did it.

I had a reflux baby who was impossible. Finally hired a baby nurse at 7 weeks and she got him on a good schedule and was able to get him to eat better than I could. Even when she left two weeks later was much easier for me because he was on a good sleeping schedule.

A good patient and experienced nurse is only caring for your baby and so will have more time and patience to help soothe relieve baby. You are also a mother to other children and a wife and a home maker. You have so much on your brain and you are physically recovering from birth. So even if you find your babies hard, a good nurse will give it her all to find what works for this baby
( not to say that you wouldn’t but your attention and energy is also needed elsewhere )

They take the babies out after the are fed and changed so they are good then, when they start fussing she takes them back in and cares for them. She wouldn’t be outside if the baby was screaming and screaming .

Thanks, everyone! What if I exclusively BF? Would a full time nurse be helpful? I think most of the babies I see are formula fed…

I know plenty of women who BF and have a nurse. It still makes it easier since she will be the one to burp, change and rock your baby back to sleep.
