I have a neighbor with mental illness who often comes to use our (cordless) phone. Her family disconnected her phone because, I assume, she called them constantly.
The problem is she evidently doesn't shower and the phone sometimes smells very unpleasant after she uses it.
I need to clean it so it is useable, but I am concerned about ruining it.
This can happen several times a day or more.
Any suggestions?

Alcohol wipes. They will disinfect, but the alcohol evapoates quickly so the moisture shouldn't damage your phone.

I use alco-gel on tissue. Have a job with a lot of germ exposure, so I wipe down my phone every day when I come home.
