Hi, I'm considering taking the D and Q train tomorrow from BP to Flatbush area. Would be traveling with a baby.
Bus would take longer and Uber is expensive. Should I be scared to travel by train?

The subway is normally fine during the day. I’d only avoid at night.
FYI you can schedule rides in advance in Uber and that’s often cheaper than booking only when you’re ready to go.

You'd have to go thru Atlantic Ave or Coney Island?
Trains ok in Flatbush, BH. Nowhere near as bad as in Manhattan

The subway are great if you are someone who is has a good general awareness to surroundings and is easy going. Otherwise it might not be for you.

I know, I used to do that a lot. I'd play around with it, keep on trying different bookings until I got the cheapest price. When was the last time you tried it? Because about a year ago, I found that it didn't work anymore. If anything, the prices were actually higher.

Be prepared you might share a car with homeless people, people who are passed out on drugs or people ranting about Jews. It’s also full of graffiti some of it antisemitic. As someone who grew up taking the subway everywhere myself as a teen… I no longer take it. It’s just a really unpleasant experience and sometimes unsafe. Stay away from the rails there are serial rail shivers who like to throw people in. Also watch out for yelling lunatics and people with knives there have been many knife stabbings lately

I take the subway daily (f train) between boro park and flatbush. I do occassionally switch cars if I don't feel comfortable but otherwise it's fine. not the most pleasant but gets me where I need to go quickly
