I write some poetry / ish
Just random stuff I think about as I try to figure out this life. Wondering if it's OK to share. I make no money off it.

Yeah I’ve seen that

Ok I’ll post it here and I guess if it’s not ok it can be removed

It’s mostly about healing / emotions / going inwards

Would love to hear people’s thoughts

Thanks all!

I've considered if medium would be better because it distributes the pieces more then substack but I'm not sure because it sounds like it needs to be more perfect.

You’re very talented op. Maybe consider binah back page for the less controversial ones.

Thanks! 🙏

I used to try to submit writings but I got very discouraged when they were rejected so I just don’t do it anymore.

Also it’s hard for me to write within a specific framework or rules I like to just let it flow and publications usually need specific things.

If I need to pay attention to rules and guidelines it loses its magic for me.

I’d recommend Medium. I write there as well under a pen name. It doesn’t need to be more polished if you self publish. There’s also a publication called Illumination that accepts everyone. I mostly publish there, because it’s more about getting my feelings across than presenting the perfect writing.

Ok that’s good to know.

What would be the benefit ? That it spreads it to a wider audience?

How has it been for you on Medium?

The interface is clearer and makes your writing easier to read.
You can be found through Google if you use seo.
You have the option to put your writing behind a paywall if you’d like.
You can build up followers and Medium will send them an email with your story ( + others’ stories) if you check that off.
You can submit your stories to publications to be seen by more people.

It’s been good. I haven’t made much money (a couple dollars lol), I’m just using it as a way to gather my thoughts, let out steam, express etc.

But it can be a great way to make money if you use your real name and link to your related business in your profile, write about your business topic etc.

Thanks that’s helpful
Maybe I’ll switch at some point

I don’t have a related business and I’m already using my real name in the substack (it doesn’t have my last name but not because I’m trying to be anonymous I post it on my WhatsApp status and linkedin account too)

Does it require lots of time for formatting and technicalities?

On substack I basically write straight in there , then add a pic and hit send. No more effort required and I like that

What I do is I send in whenever I write unless I know it’s not appropriate. 1/10 or less they take. It’s fine. I’m not writing for them.

A lot of people just use their first name as well. I find it really simple to use. Let me know if you do switch, I’d love to follow you and I’ll let you know which profile is mine.
