Is your high functioning ASD child on any kind of medication to help alleviate any of his symptoms or for any other reason?

Look into suramin and low dose naltrexone. Targets the root causes of asd as opposed to just some very specific symptoms.
There have been case reports on ivermectin and nystatin (and other antifungals) making a big difference as well.

We are going to start qelbree soon, for adhd. Dr says kids with asd and adhd have the hardest to medicate adhd.

I’m high functioning asd and I take anxiety/antidepressant meds. I don’t have adhd. AFAIK it is pretty easy to medicate for anxiety. It’s the adhd meds that tend to aggravate those with asd.

Are those anti inflammatory? Or are you assuming the root causes are something else

LDN is an immune modulator and opioid receptor agonist. It also has other mechanisms of action that are less well understood but it's been studied somewhat in asd.

Suramin is an old repurposed drug that works on the cell danger response and mitochondrial shutdown. Some very promising results in asd by Dr Robert naviaux. Fascinating research, worth a read.

Ivermectin target parasites and inflammation. Nystatin targets fungal dysbiosis. I linked a study above.

It's technically an anti-psychotic but it's used as a mood stabilizer. And yes, it is working.

Abilify + prozac really helps him a lot. Not perfect but have been through so many meds and combinations. Issue is that prozac is making him lose weight so may need to change soon. Every child is different and responds differently.

Peru, this is fascinating. What kind of Dr are you using for this treatment? Would a pediatrician be able to prescribe and monitor for this treatment?

You need a MAPS doctor or a functional md who has experience with the medical side of asd.

Amantadine is another one that shows good results. It's a glutamate agonist.
