If you’re yeshivish I would say not to get it. If you’re jpf then go for it.

Would probably have to be dry cleaned ($$). |
Leather can be wiped down. Perfect for rain.

I happen to adore leather jackets. Nice, classy ones, not biker ones. But I would never wear one cuz it just doesn't go in my community. Sigh.
(DW, it's a small sacrifice to make for all the good I get out of my community)

I think many people answering don't know what type of leather skirts they are selling these days.
They are much more refined and pretty than what you are describing.
I'm assuming it's this type of skirt that OP is talking about.

No judgement from me, I wear leather skirts too ( well actually they are faux leather.)
I have three such skirts all a decent length, and I would be hard pressed to see anything slutty about them.

Honestly, if it looks obviously leather it looks less refined to me. If I can't tell it is the same as any skirt.

*Shrug*
It's long and not tight-fitting.
I don't see an issue.
Of all the leather skirts you could criticize, this one seems pretty tame.

I don't see an issue either to be honest.

Last time I wore a long and full (as in, not tight) leather skirt I was single, in my early 20's. A male colleague sized me up and down and asked if I was into BDSM. I didn't know what that was so I innocently did a search 🤢 (do not Google if you don't know what it is)
Should he have asked? Definitely not, but that doesn't change the fact it was a message I was unwittingly sending...

I have a cream pleather midi from Banana Republic Factory - very soft texture and natural looking. I wear it with a cream sweater and taupe booties and it's really nice looking. Very demure

I would assume the skirt was black.
Because only black and red leather would be associated with that.

Nope. Mostly gray with some maroon blocks (panels?) not tight at all, I guess it was a-line.

A. I think they're ugly.
B. You can't wash them.
C. They have to go to a special cleaners who does leather, and even then it's just removing surface dirt. It doesn't get rid of absorbed sweat and so on.
D. It looks a little sl*tty even if the length and the cut is modest. Somewhat like an obviously fake tattoo, which is not forbidden by halacha but nevertheless emits a low-class vibe.
But you do you. You want to wear a garment that you can never really clean and makes you look like a b&mb0, don't let me stop you.

Because it's kind of - provocative?
Get me right, I'm DL/MO and totally not into the whole refined look business. I've got a few long jeans skirts and an ankle length skirt with a muted leopard print. I wear alternative boho stuff. Paisley. Weird patterns. Bobbles. I've even got 2 vegan leather jackets.
But a leather skirt that's shiny, not velours ? Umm, kind of not. Even if it's long down to the floor, imho there is something unpleasantly s@zually suggestive about it.

When I see leather that touches body skin (as opposed to a jacket) I think heavy, hot, stiff, sweaty, don't get caught in a downpour (leather shrinks and stiffens if it gets really wet), and how many times does s/he plan to wear that item before it reeks?
