My kids are between 1-9 years old.
I am looking for an indoor or cool activity for today. It is supposed to be really hot. I checked out the aquarium but it's all booked. Any ideas I have a car and can travel.

Yes, it's really fun but my oldest has grown out of gymborees.

There's this wall climbing place in Talpiot. Not sure exactly what it's called or where it is.
Not for the babies, but probably age 5 and up would enjoy.

Have you been there?
I remember it being boring but I have not been there in a long time.

Has anyone else been to the science museum and can say whether they recommend it?

I haven't been recently - last time I was there was maybe 5 years ago. I agree with you, I find it a bit boring, but kids do like running around pressing all the buttons and fiddling around with stuff there.
I don't think they really learn any science though, if that bothers you.

I think this museum works best if there is a madrich, or if a parent who is with them chaperones them and helps explain what each exhibit is showing. If you go there and just set your kids loose, they'll just press buttons and not get much out of it, esp if they can't read yet.

I took my 7 and 9 year old this year.
There were some pretty cool exhibits, everything is interactive, but overall I thought it was kind of small (I had been hoping to while away many more hours there). However, my girls LOVED it and keep asking when we can go back.

We were at the science museum last year. Everyone, from young kids to teens, enjoyed it. Would totally go back again when we have a chance. Definitely helped to have parents who explained it to the kids. But also, for the parents to be laid back enough to give the kids time to explore.

The museum is on a much smaller scale than those in the US, but our kids don't have that as a basis of comparison. So if we show that its fun and interesting our kids feel that way too. Not to mention the difference in price between the two museums.

How about the Colel chabad volunteer thing in talpiot? You work together as a family to put together food packages. Really fun for kids and a mitzvah.

In the end we went to paint ceramics.
It was very relaxing and everyone enjoyed.
I may take them to the sience museum another day.

I personally have not been to either.
My relatives have been a few times to Alee and have enjoyed it very much - they are aged 7 - 14.
So I don't know about the younger ages.

My kids really enjoyed the science museum (but only once Smile). They have changing exhibits, sometimes more interesting than others.
DCity has a jump park that is suitable for various ages.
