We renovated recently and have a pocket door and we hate it. It's annoying to use and the kids are too rough on it and I'm always afraid they're going to break it.

we have room for a door, it’s just annoying—it would open right against the bathtub (or right against the toilet if we make a change).
dimensions are 150 cm by 206 cm.
I’ll post a picture for reference. I’m also open to any suggestions for changing the layout! I don’t love this one.

The door opening against the bathtub isn’t a big deal IMO. The tub will be hidden when you open the door which shouldn’t be a problem (the tub is used less than the toilet and sink anyways).

Its small but not tiny. Pocket doors are great - when they work. Make sure you have high end hardware and professional installation. If this is a master bathroom, a pocket door will be fine. If in family bathroom where will get abuse - may be better to switch it.
There are proper locks that work for sliding doors, but can be fiddley for a child.
As for light leaking out - just make sure you have correct trim around both sides of the door.
I know its not an easy fix, but with this layout, the bath taps are awkward to get to if you are bathing a child - put them on the opposite wall.
for easy closure - you can install a push spring lock behind the door, that way even when open, you can push the door in further and it springs out so you can grab the door, instead of having to fiddle with the latch to pull the door out. But a swing door is still easier to close, and you can keep that on self closing hinges so the bathroom door stays closed when you leave it.

thanks for this info! it helped me think through my options. with the new plan I posted, do you still think the bath taps are hard to get through or now okay?

Keep In mind with this layout you have alot less counter sink space.
Not sure if you like having things out on the counter just something to think about.
