Hi!
Anyone delivered multiples with their regular OB? Or is it considered high risk and need to be seen by one who specializes in multiples?
I am so unsure if I should continue with my regular ob and if not who to switch to. and I cant ask anyone irl because I am not telling anyone
I delivered a few babies with my ob and I was really happy there... but they said that I wouldnt be doing anything different until 20 weeks- after that they would be keeping a closer eye on things with more frequent u/s.
I dont know if im wrong but I feel like I should be having more u/s before 20 weeks!
im so confused and I dont have any family members that had this before so literally noone to talk to Crying

I used my regular OB for my twins. He was there for the first several of my pregnancies.

I asked him point blank if he's comfortable continuing, and he said yes.
Dh's thought process was that if we can't trust him to decide if he's qualified for twins, how can we trust him for any of my pregnancies? Either we trust him or we don't!

One baby was breech. Besides for that I was considered low risk.

I was able to deliver them both naturally. The hospital was expting him to do a c for my second baby! Bh!

I know someone who switched to a midwife practice from a doctor and then found out she was having twins. She stayed with them and they did great.
I think twins these days is not a huge deal.

I know a lot of people that have multiples that used Dr Giovinne, the office is crazy but make yourself vulnerable and tell them that you only need to see Dr. G. Only he does the delivery by multiples..they also send you to MFM for monitoring. Hatzlacha!

I used West Long Branch. My first set of twins were delivered via C section as my water broke 6 weeks early and one baby was transverse, the other breach. When I was pregnant with my second set, they pushed me to do VBAC. BH it was successful

I had my twins with RWJ, I used them for all my singles before my twins. I did get more care than a single pregnancy and ended up also having a consult with mfm due to a concern. They told me to stay with rwj.

Maybe call Chaim Medical or Refuah? I’m sure they would be knowledgeable to help. Not sure what Lakewood Bikur Cholim would know in regards to medical information and Drs.

As an aside if it’s twins I’d assume most Drs at this point have delivered hundreds of twins. If you’re having higher order multiples then you definitely need an MFM.

I’m currently pregnant with twins and have been seeing an MFM since 12 weeks, once a month. I’ve gotten so many US done between them and OB because OB does one at each visit too to insure they are getting the heart beat of both babies. I’m very happy with the MFM and feel like I’m in better hands because they are way more thorough than a regular OB. Good Luck!!

I had two sets of twins vaginally with west long branch.

As long as you are not high risk, this is not a big deal a pretty frequent occurance.

I did go to a MFM for my 20 week ultrasound and towards the end of the pregnancies for consults. However I waa delivered by drs in the WLB practice.
The first (which was my first delivery) they wanted an epidural in case things went wrong, but said I did not need for the second set (several babies later) if I didn't want to.

You might want to meet with a nutritionist right away.

This also depends if your twins are identical or not. If identical you really should go to mfm.
Way more complications with identical. Also some doctors go to c sections way faster with twins so keep that in mind.

So 1 for Giovvine and 2 for west long branch

Amother milk, are your twins identical or fraternal? Do they share a placenta? Or anything else to make you high risk?

Sigh.

Of course I mean high risk for twins.

Like one placenta or worse. Or other issues there can be.

Of course twins are "high risk". Thats why I went to an mfm as mentioned in my post. Didnt do that for the others. But having diabetes, being over 40, these are risks too. Its not a catastrophic overwhelming risk.

Di / di twins in a healthy mother are rather common and not hard to manage.
