I am interested in taking a 2-3 day vacation w dd who is a young adult. We don't want a big city. It needs to be reachable from NYC by public transportation and we need to be able to get around at the destination w/o a car. Thank you!!

There are tons of places that are reachable by train! Look around at different cities you might be interested in visiting and then figure out your route.

I was hoping for recommendations from people who had been there.

Nothing specific. The point is to go somewhere new. Only requirement is that it not be a big city since we have plenty of that here.

Most places that you can get around easy with out a car are in cities.

We took the Amtrak years ago to Newport , RI. Actually, we took the train to nearby Providence, but Newport was readily accessible by bus. Within Newport, they have a great trolley transit system to all the local attractions.

Interesting. Our last trip was actually to Providence and we had a great time. I will look into this. Thank you.

Deal: Take the train to Manhattan and then the Sea Streak ferry to NJ. The ferry ride was so relaxing and such a fun way to get to our destination. Then we took a 15 minute Uber ride to our hotel in Long Branch. You can chill at the beach and lots of kosher food nearby.
