Be honest. Don't hold back.

- I am considering, but wondering what to prepare for...

For me, it was loss of WhatsApp and waze.

The fig flip has waze, but no WhatsApp. Otherwise, life actually got better! Less distractions! More of the "shabbos feel" a whole week.

Can't transfer over texts/notes.....(if you're the type that likes/needs to hold onto notes for future reference)
No music streaming (downloading isn't the same)
Smaller screen (this is especially hard with calendar schedule, and even with waize

Feeling like a helpless idiot. I’m a 2024 person who gets paid through zell, shops online ( sales only and no time to go to stores) and gets links for a million important things, I drive and I need to get to places. A smart phone is here to help your life. I do not have a million groups nor do I use social media. I do enjoy reading news or reading imamother. People who are busy on the phone, will be busy anyway, smart phone or not.
So, I bought a second phone and pretend that there is nothing else around me.

There are no easy answers in an imperfect world.
Each individual needs to do the best they honestly can for their particular circumstances, and what they can strive to do.

I feel you on this. I want get rid of mine but I need the music for my kids, Waze to drive, camera for pictures. I can go without WhatsApp on my phone but where I live everything is WhatsApp based.

Did having a second phone work?

For someone like me who knows the difference in quality, smart phone pictures are definitely better then even the fig, which is better then others. (Most ppl are happy with the fig camera quality, and I understand why. It's not bad) So this is hard for me.

Some say they carry the smart for a camera when needed

how do you handle no keyboard?
That is the biggest reason I still have a touch screen phone(I refuse to call it a smart phone with the amount of aggravation it cost me)

I cannot go back to a T9 keyboard.

After contemplating over a year, I took the plunge to change to a flip phone today.

I’m soo addicted to my iphone. I’m still keeping it at home to shop etc. I hope it’s gonna be doable for me.
My husband was against it but now he finally saw the importance and actually encouraged me to do it.

I still have to break the news to my boss. He’s not gonna be too excited about it but it is what it is.

You may be triggered at times- 1- when the need/urge/something comes up and you may feel it's just to hard. But just keep reminding yourself, true- it's to hard- true- and it's inconvenient- yes. But there's a reason that you chose to do this and try to stick with it! Remember there is no perfect solution in this world, but we are trying our best! Also, maybe make yourself a time frame.
2- may also get triggered by seeing others with a smart. Hey, if they can, I also can. But again, remember, not one person has the very same dynamics/challenges/pulls.....
So bottom line- hang in there- Hshm loves you!
You're doing great- every little step!

Obviously whole social media change. After that, difficulty texting, horrible camera, I felt it worked like all options worked like a klutz.

Good part was, battery lasted much longer, easier on ear, heard better on it...

The camera and lack of music or podcasts. And the fact that I can’t really write out a whole megillah the way I used to with texts lol

But I will say that maybe it’s just me but I feel like when other yidden see I have a flip phone I get a certain amount of respect and separately people automatically assume you are super frum if you don’t have a smartphone which I have found very funny
