Ages?
I find it so hard!
I have young girls and plan on buying a big doll house with new dolls. It’s been on my list for a while and seems like a good time to get before yt.
Similar idea would be a train set, playmobil.
Still much more expensive than arts and crafts and much less entertainment for my crew. It’s really really hard.

Lego friends keeps kids busy putting it together and then playing with it. But they have to be old enough to do it. I found it kept my kids very busy.
New books.
Puzzles.
New toys.
I bought my kids a reusable sticker book for 9 Av. If you can use YK it's a good buy. Cheap too.

I got some new doll clothes.
In the past I've gotten some more Lego.
In general I find adding on to an existing toy works well

One Y"K when I had a few preschool age kids, for a few weeks before I kept all sorts of empty food containers -cereal boxes, washed out empty bottles, spice containers etc. etc. I stocked up on quite a collection.
Then I bought each kid a cheap wallet and fake money. (Managed to find both in the dollar store.)
On Y"K I set it all out around the playroom, along with all our play food, and we had a huge game of shopping. Kept them busy for a long time, and just cost a few dollars!

If you're trying to save money, you can trade with a neighbor or friend. Give them your box of magna tiles and take their box of lincoln logs. New toys are always more exciting.
