Our son is in camp for the first time. He’s loving it. Every moment.
How do I know?
Because he calls. Almost every moment.
And it’s quite comical at this point, that, I decided to share the entertainment and invite you to listen in on the experience.
Tuesday
10 am
“Hi Ma, good morning! Can you tell all the kids good morning from me? “
“sure! How was your night?”
“Good Ma. Okay bye”
12pm
“Hi Ma. I won’t be able to call anymore today cuz the phones are broken so have a good night”
Ok, love you, good night
3pm
“Hi Ma. I’m gonna buy a big challa for the family for shabbos from the bakery in camp. I gotta run to line up. Bye”
3:03 pm
“Hi Ma. There’s no line up today actually “
3:05 pm
“Hi Ma. Don’t tell the kids I’m gonna buy the challah, k? I want it to be a surprise “
Sure, sure.
7pm
“Hi Ma. Good night. We’re having night swim”
Oh, nice! Have fun!
Wednesday morning
9:45
I’m on the phone with Home Depot. Sonny boy calls but I can’t pick up.

Calls again

Calls again. Still can’t pick up
9:55
“Ma? Goodness! Why didn’t you pick up???”
Because I was on an important call. How was your night?
“ Ma. I need to explain to you what it TAKES for me to call you! You don’t GET it. I need to make sure my counselor isn’t standing at a certain door. The menahel has to be on the other side of the wall. I need to sneak to the phones. They have to be available……..”
My sincere attempts to control my laughter at his genuine sacrifices were mostly successful.
Kids. You gotta love them.

Hahaha!
My sister had her 2 oldest in the same camp at some point.
They both had an absolute blast!
Her oldest called every single day to let her know how much fun he's having. Worth a detailed report of the entire day.
Her 2nd to oldest, just a year younger. Called Friday morning
"Hello mommy, how-are-you-everythings-great-here.-can-you-please-connect-totty (3 way) hello how-are-you-everythings-grest-here. Ok gotta go now. Gut shabbos. For 8 weeks every single erev shabbos.
