Has anyone ever signed up for it and got a replacement fridge and other stuff?
How hard is it to sign up?

It is income based so you can apply.

Your refrigerator would have to be fairly old as most relatively new refrigerators are energy efficient. They take the old refrigerator and replace it with a new one supplied by New York. I imagine they have a bulk deal so the cost for each refrigerator is not as high as if you bought it.

The refrigerators are white only and supplied by New York. My understanding is they are basic models - white only with no water or ice makers.

I signed up for the program but not for refrigerators, for insulation. The company (jewish) that I used helped me get approved and I was able to get insulation and things like door stops and low energy power strips (and for some reason carbon monoxide detectors as well) to help reduce the costs of my energy. The company was super helpful and walked me through the process. If anyone wants to use them their name is Sibs Mechanical (you can Google or I can post # if anyone wants) based in 5t but my friend used them upstate also...
And they do everything for free

Yes, I applied and got a replacement refrigerator.
I was able to choose from white or stainless. And got a really nice/ good replacement.
