This is a spin-off from the other thread. I also decided, in large part, to have another baby because of the tragedy as a commitment to rebuild. I’d love some ideas for girls names that fit the theme of rebuilding, never giving up hope, that am yisrael is eternal, etc.

That’s so special. Bshaah tovah. I also went off birth control after 7/10, but I’m still waiting.

I am OP of the other thread.

Names I have been considering: Alma, Maya (also a Dee sister killed in a terror attack).

Names of victims that are from Tanach/done in chareidi circles: Tamar, Hodaya, Rina (a Dee sister), Shoshana (Shani Louk and others), Noa, Ruth, there are many more.

Name to fit the cause: Nechama, Chaya, Tikva, any name that has to do with EY: Moriah, Bat Tzion, Karmel etc.

Simcha Ora - Sounds like Simchat Torah, and beautiful meaning anyway. If the whole name is "too much" for her, she can go by Simcha which is a perfectly normal Sepharadic girls name. If you are Ashekenazi, AYLOR

Thanks so much!! Prefer tanach names and/or more mainstream names (JPF, not yeshivish but send to bais yaakov)

ShlomZion post dates Tanach, but she was descended from the Chasmonaim, and the last queen of an independent Judea.

Interestingly, Israelis have starting using Nova for girls names, like the festival on Oct 7 that many were killed at.

But if you are looking for something traditional, there are some good ideas above.

I had a girl shortly after October 7 and used a name for joy, to represent the joy she brought during this dark dark time, and that ray of light and hope. Meira/Aliza/Roni/Gila/
We did not want to use something that was too heavy as everything felt so heavy at the time.
We’re not in the immediate post Oct 7 anymore so you might feel differently but that’s what we did Smile
Also some of the names mentioned are gorgeous but not sure in a JPF American community they are mainstream.
Sending brachot for clarity !!

It was used as a name before that, but has become more common.
