I am looking to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa for Succos.
Does anyone have any information about the frum community in Johannesburg.
How big is it? Where are the jewish neighborhoods? How much kosher food is there?
Cafes? Restaurants? Shuls?
Is there anyone on this platform from Johannesburg?
Does anyone have a contact of a resident from South Africa?

Any leads would be appreciated.

My hueband's family is from there.
We dont live there, but from all of the visits weve done over the years, I can tell you that the jewish community is one of the most unique and special jewish communities I have ever experienced in my almost 5 decades on Hashem's earth.

We took a summer trip to South Africa last year.
We stayed at a local family which we knew for shabbos.
There is tons of kosher food for super cheap. There are fleishig and Milchig restaurants, bagel store, grocery stores with chalav yisrael milk and yogurt (the best yogurt I’ve had in my life!!!) , fully stocked butcher. Really anything you’d need.
While in Johannesburg and Cape Town we are out for all meals because it was such a thrill to buy whatever you want off the menu 😀
We bought tons of yogurt, raw meat and biltong for our trip to Kruger and made bbqs.
Have fun!!!

Depending on your budget/family size Genesis is the best place to stay. There are several kosher restaurants in the center as well as a supermarket, fruit store, pharmacy, and more. It's walking distance to a number of Shuls.
If you want more space you can rent a house on airbnb. You will see several hosted by Jewish families.
