The last 2 years we qualified for food stamps but I don't remember showing bank statements. I'm nervous by showing bank statements I won't get reapproved. Any way to go about this?

If you're eligible, you're eligible. If you're not, you're not. Not worth trying to skip something past them

We give an income letter with letterhead and signature from business.
I want to clarify when I applied originally I had to give bank statements. Whe I have my recertifications I don't have to. They don't ask for it.

How is it enough without showing your bank accounts?

If showing bank statements won’t get you reapproved then don’t try to get reapproved. People have gone to prison for such things RL

Wait until you’re eligible again and then reapply.

I didn't say my bank statements got me declined. I'm just nervous about showing them. Income is very low right now and if I have to pay for food also it'll be very hard. Don't want to pay for food from savings.

I hear. Thr sooner you go in and show the statements, the sooner IYH you can get help with food expenses.

Idk where you are located but in NYc savings don’t count. I had $300k in savings but no income and got approved no problem.

When we had food stamps, we only needed an income letter, no bank statements. (NYC)

What can they see from bank statements?

How much money is in your account at the beginning and end of each month

If you are in ny, you shouldn’t need bank statements. Unless they changed the rules in the last two years.
For renewal:
I needed proof of income- letter from employer was acceptable. Proof of rent, and any other expenses such as utilities. And proof of residence for children(letter from landlord/ or doctor stating parents and children reside there).

And what is the significance of those numbers? What do they want to see? Or not want to see ?

They want to know if you can afford food each month and the amount in your bank account can determine that

I always wonder about rules like this, because when in the month are we talking? There's a few thousand in the account for 2 days between payday and rent, and again between payday and CC bill. But come the 25th of the month, it's empty again

I just checked the actual snap website for NY. It says there's no checking of bank statements. Assets don't count towards eligibility m
