In europe, have 2 full and one half bathroom. One of the full ones is ensuite. Another room has a shower and basin but no toilet in its ensuite. Which is weird. and no door on the shower room either!
2 toilets in a house is pretty essential to me. 2 showers is good but in at least one of the houses we lived in if one shower was being used the other one wouldn't work well. Similar issue in current house.

Growing up in the UK we had 4 bathroom
Now in Israel 2 bedroom apartment, I have toilet separate to the bath & sink so it's 2 bathroom but only 1 toilet.

Growing up we had a house with 1 bathroom (oot) then moved to one with 2.
When I got married I had a tiny apartment in Nyc with 1 bathroom.
Now I have a tiny duplex kinda house (nyc) with 1.5 bathrooms.
Vs my newly married niece in Lakewood has a 2 bathroom apartment. |
Growing up we had a 4 bedroom/2 bathroom house, and then we added a bedroom and bathroom. When my parents sold the house, it was 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms.
When I got married, I moved into a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom apt. Then we moved to a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom 2 floor condo.

The sink and shower are not adjoining? It's in a totally part of the apartment than the toilet? Or is it just adjoining but separated by a door?

So out of 73 votes, only 14 have only one bathroom. I guess it's pretty clear that most people have more than one.

When I first moved to Ukraine, I thought separate toilet and bathroom was very weird. But it actually makes sense. I really wish it existed in American apartments.
So yeah… currently one… 😡

If its the only toilet in the house it makes sense. But otherwise really prefer to have a toilet in the bathroom.

I’m in a house with 3 (I don’t have in the basement)
But almost every basement apartment in Lakewood has 2 bathrooms
ETA- my master bathroom has a separate toilet from the large main bathroom

I voted 4+. I have 4. Not full bathrooms. One bathroom is in the master bedroom and is off limits to the kids. Oth, because my bathroom is off limits to the kids, I made it such that the kids bathroom is off limits for me. Otherwise it's not fair.

Haha that reminds me that when we were house hunting we saw a house that had a toilet just sitting next to the washing machine in the open basement. The real estate agent generously called it a "quarter bathroom"

All the apts I’ve been in (nyc) have one bathroom. Very few buildings had two.

Not necessarily true. On the uws at least, I know of apartments with 3 or 4 bathrooms.

I know of many many apartments in Brooklyn that have 2-3+ bathrooms.
The old apartment buildings that have 1-2 bedroom apartments, have 1 bathroom. But the buildings with bigger apartments, generally have more than 1 bathroom.

I never really understood the whole “random toilet in the basement” with no walls or other privacy screen around it, no sink, nothing except stam a toilet.

According to the poll you were quite on target but it's interesting to see some exceptions anyway.
Side point, what was this a spin off of? I'm intrigued.
