I would like to do a craft to make a wooden hadlakas neiros plaque.
I have the wooden plaques.

Here are my questions:

1. What type of stain should I buy to stain it?

2. After it dries, do I then put the paper with the bracha/yehi ratzon on and then shellac it?
I've never done shellac, does this make sense?
