Do you think the name had a negative vibe because of the story of Dina? Where can I read more about Dina as a biblical woman?

I want to use the name because I don’t think it was so overused in the recent years but the story is holding me back…
Are there any prominent figures named Dina? Or do you have a Dina who is an absolute delight? Let me know😀

Dina is a prominent positive figure!
It is told that the reason the whole story happened is because she didn't marry Eisav, as she was such a Tzdeket and could've transformed him!!

Nechama Dena is a common combo. Lubavitch Rebbitzen.
I think the sound of Dena/Deena/Dina is really sweet. I know a few, and I love how it sounds.
That being said, the root of Din, judgement, is something pretty strong. I know some who are named that because they were born around Yamim Noraim.
I’d probably opt to make it a double-barreled combo.

I would like to soften it with a middle name with a positive meaning

I have a deceased relative named Dina and I would love to name after her! I heard rabbi yy jacobson say that Dina is from lashon din but in a positive way, that it’s the attribute of judging what’s proper and correct and setting appropriate boundaries.

There’s a beautiful sicha by the Lubavitcher rebbe all about the story of Dina and it completely transforms the way we usually think about it.

If it’s just the sound that you like, how about Adina instead? Different meaning but similar sound.

About everyone around has an Adina and a Tehila. I didn’t want one of those.
I wanted something not overused.

I have a Dina and she is a joy🙂. Very strong personality, very caring, very bright. We get so many compliments on her.
She is named after my great-grandmother who also had a strong personality that helped her fight for survival during the Holocaust.
We also gave the name chaya which means life, after my mother.
We were told by a tzaddik to give this name.
