I'm a mommy and a seit and I like to wear long black slinky skirts that are easy to wash and easy to replace and whenever I have nice things I worry about ruining them so why bother.
After living like this for many years I don't know why but I suddenly started to notice that other people look really nice in a more diverse range of styles and colors and - even more of a chiddush - I would really like to do that sometime too.
Slightly urgent also because we have a photo op occasioncoming up and I have nothing to wear. I don't think we're doing a specific color scheme, just go for basic solids that won't clash with each other.
Oh and I can't actually afford to splurge on myself right now. I'm hoping maybe shein can help...

Button down shirt that's fitted. Fine necklace hangs out at the top button
Nice looking sun glasses
Straw hat in a style that looks good on your face.
Flats or comfy sandals
Nails neat, clean, and done in a neutral but warm tone like mocha or ivory or pink.
Style with a fun, bright, silk scarf anywhere you like. On your hat, necktie, looped at the front of your handbag
Keep your slinky skirts. They're comfy, and comfy boosts confidence.

I personally think it's more trendy to wear simple t-shirts but I also like having more dressy tops.
Dresses are also very in.
Let us know if that's your style.

Forgot to mention I have a slight build but a post-baby tummy. I'm generally size small in tops and bottoms varies widely by brand/style.
I'm generally too lazy for accessories and I think I always look awkward in any kind of hat. I usually wear a fall wig in a pony and desperately need new headbands but I'm very sensitive and everything is too tight lately. They neeeeed to bring back the "bra strap" style with some flat fabrics that don't bunch behind your ears.
I don't want to look "out there" at all. I'm a very blend in, understated, shy type. I just want to look fresh and not black and also have something that I haven't been wearing the same thing of for the last 10 years (but also isn't a sweater. I have not had difficulty finding nice fall/winter sweaters to go with my plain black skirts). And also look nice in a family photo with kids (and one teen who come to think of it also could use something other than black or navy)

Thanks. I would totally go with simple t shirts, but would love a nice skirt or two to pair them with. I also, um, don't really have nice t-shirts anymore. Maybe one.
My style is that skirts need to be on the long side and loose fitting, I don't like my tush to stick out and I like to be able to walk and sit freely. I also need things to be relatively easy to wash and not get covered in wrinkles if you forget to hang it up for a minute. My life is messy. I keep thinking pleats look nice, I'm seeing a lot of long accordion pleated skirts on the pretty people, but I can't figure out how they keep them looking nice. I don't have the budget for something that will only last a short time or needs dry cleaning every time you wear it.

Women are wearing bandanas instead kd headbands that you tie yourself so you can make them as tight or loose as you wish. Women are also wearing scarf style Headbands that kind of look like a tie, also that you tie yourself. I'll send you a designer one so you get the concept but you can get them anywhere. Do NOT feel pressure to pay $$$, it's just easier to find a link to post online. Most people are not paying these prices. I bet you can get at target or forever 21. https://www.mytheresa.com/int/.....39927

Where are you located?
If you are in Israel Chemise have 1+1 and they let you do it in how ever many purchase you want. I did 3 times grouping to the same prices.
I just bought 6 items like you described including a white and a beige A-line skirt, each thing came out to approx 80nis and I could try on before buying which is a must for me.
First time in weeks I'm feeling fresh and colourful but comfortable in my style.

They wash them on cold and gentle, fold the pleats and carefully lie them flat as they dry. And/or they iron them. It doesn't seem like you want to babysit your clothes the same way.

I've done this for my kids uniform skirts but don't know how you would fold the pleats on a flary accordion skirt.
But you're right even if I could do it technically, I can't do it in real life because literally everything will be more important.

Are you talking about Orly skirts?

You may like dressblank.com if you are specifically looking for less pricey, more basic and comfortable clothes that are in style in Lakewood.

I bought this skirt from SHEIN.
It’s really good quality but not sure what to wear it with ?
It’s very long & doesn’t have a style.
But was looking for a white skirt for so long and this one isn’t see thru.
May be op it’s an option for you ?
Any suggestions to make it more stylish ?

I bought a ton of floral pattern long dresses on amazon and they wash amazingly.
Also, a striped t shirt will give you a nautical summery look and can still be paired with a black slinky skirt

Wear nude tights and white or beige loafers.
Can wear a lighter top with a black skirt
Or buy a skirt and top. Blur, green, White are all in style

Yes, re the shoes. It's sounds silly but I feel more "in" when I don't wear black shoes. Though I will if they're really the best match.

Choose a skirt and wear a solid t-shirt.
