I am thinking about doing laser on my sideburns, but I've seen people with gray skin on the places that the have done the laser.
What's that? Does it depend on the person? Or is it an indication that the one who did the laser wasn't professional?

It's the hair stubble, it can make the skin look gray/black.

There is always a risk of permanent skin discoloration with laser. IDK how common it is but it's one of the things they tell you before you sign on the dotted line.
