Used 1 bag a day.
Now I’m using 2 (sometimes 3) 13 gallon bags for my smaller but nicer stainless steel can.
Anyone know of a large stainless steel can for a good price? |
I'm hoping to buy the Simplehuman 115L stainless bullet can. It's not cheap ($250) but is supposedly commercial quality.

I go through many
I am not frugal with them
I usually fill them 3/4 of way full because I carry them out and its gets heavy for me.
I put my boxes from all my deliveries in them so that makes lots of bags. family of 4. I have 2 garbages in my kitchen and usually take them both out at least once a day.

Do the people that take it out daily push down the garbage? If I don't do that the can gets filled really quickly.

I was curious to see how many ppl use and if amount of garbage is a reflection of how frugal one is in general..

Most frugal people buy less stuff then non frugal people.
The less stuff you buy the less stuff you throw out.

Wow, I take out the garbage much less than most people!
33 gallon bag, use almost no disposables, have a compost pile in the yard, family of 5. Take out the garbage about every third day and every Friday and shabbos.
We used to have smaller garbage bags and also used more disposables and at that point I took out the garbage at least once a day which I really hated.

Family of seven. I have two garbage cans in my kitchen. One for 13 gallon and one for 33 gallon bags. Take them out as needed. Probably once a day at least.

All of you getting a bag a day, how often do your collectors come around?
Do you have a garbage limit?

Family of 5- 1 kid in diapers. We do use disposables but not for everything.
I have a 13 gallon in my kitchen we empty 1x a day or day and a half (depends on Shabbos vs weekday) plus grocery bags in bathroom cans. We pay 10 cents for each plastic bag at the supermarket checkout so buying bulk 13 gallon is actually cheaper!! But we have plastic grocery bags from when we occasionally forget or don't bring enough reusables to the store. I have a bag of cloth bags in my car. We wash them out but I also don't typically put anything that could decompose or go moldy in the bag directly. I use veggie bags (still free) around packages of chicken, vegetables etc.

But the grocery bags are not free anymore.

1. I use the bags from the fruit store for my bathrooms because they are the perfect size.
2. The produce bags? I reuse them to take my lunch to work. If you are saying makolets don't charge for shoppong bags, that's true. But they can be over priced in general so I almost never shop in a makolet.
3. Clothing bags are usually not the right shape to fit in a garbage pail.

I would rather pay for my kitchen garbage bags than pay for my shopping bags.

Where I live garbage bags are cheaper,
It's $16.99\100=$0.17 for garbage bags or
one grocery bag for $0.20--you can some places get it for $0.15 or $0.10 but the garbage bags will hold a lot more then the cheap grocery bags. The garbage bags are made at of a plastic that does not leak, the grocery bags are not.
It would make more cents, dollar wise to buy garbage bags for garbage then grocery bags.
