To clarify, many men who were recently released from service - in fact, most, if memory serves - volunteered to rejoin the reserves pool and were accepted (including my BIL, who missed amother-lightcoral's deadline of 'till today' by about 3 days). The army isn't turning away trained reservists who want to serve, except maybe in specific individual cases.

I very much feel sorry for all the reservists families who are living without their father, husband etc. but being nasty to each other doesn't help them.
I wrote the reservists have only served so long by choice and you (Ora43) wrote they volunteered which is the same thing.
Are they to be admired and appreciated for volunteering? Absolutely but they were not conscripted or forced.

I never claimed otherwise.
Although now that we're talking, I don't understand the point you're making. Reservists not being required to serve for 8 months straight is a very, very low bar.
