I think you're taking kids stories just a little too seriously. the last thing I was thinking abt as a kid was if savta simcha sharing a house with her cousin was weird.
the way this thread is going reminded me of this meme.

Aside from the possibility that the bears are Jewish, the story clearly specifies that they have very different mattress preferences.

Upside Down World · Country Yossi · Country Yossi
Kivi and Tuki, Vol. 6: Count Your Blessings
℗ 2014 CY Productions

IT’S AN UPSIDE-DOWN WORLD- Sung & Composed By Country Yossi- Count Your Blessings
Reb Yosef dreamed
He went up to Heaven
And looked around to see
What he could see
When he returned
He said, “You won’t believe it.
Oilam Hufich Ra’isi”.
CHORUS:
It’s an upside-down world
Things are not as they appear to be
What you see is not reality
(Oh no) It’s an upside-down world.
It’s an upside-down world
People aren’t who they seem to be
What they’re living is a fantasy
(Oh yeah) In an upside-down world.
Those on the top
Are really on the bottom
Those on the bottom
Are really on the top
Those flying high are destined to fall
And those that seem smart
Why, they know nothing at all.
CHORUS:
It’s an upside-down world
Things are not as they appear to be
What you see is not reality
(Oh no) It’s an upside-down world.
It’s an upside-down world
People aren’t who they seem to be
What they’re living is a fantasy
(Oh yeah) In an upside-down world.
Where more is less, and less is more
The poor are rich, and the rich are poor
The perfect man is really very faulted
But humble souls
Well, they’re gonna be exalted.
Those that are out- are gonna be in
Those that are in- are gonna be out
Those that seem weak
Are really so strong
And those that seem right
Well, they’re really so wrong.
So now that you know
You can perceive
This world is really
Nothing but make-believe
The only things real
Are the Torah we learn
The Mitzvohs we do
And the Schar that we earn.
So don’t be fooled by what you see
This world is topsy-turvy
We can all agree
And praised is he who understands
And comes to Olam Haba
With his Torah in his hands.
CHORUS:
It’s an upside-down world
Things are not as they appear to be
What you see is not reality
(Oh no) It’s an upside-down world.
It’s an upside-down world
People aren’t who they seem to be
What they’re living is a fantasy
(Oh yeah) In an upside-down world.

The Savta Simcha thing is more than a modern sensitivity that we might be taking too far.
It is actually assur for brother and sister to live in yichud as a permanent arrangement.

Does it have to be short for something? Tuki is a parakeet in Hebrew.

I have a problem with the Middos Malka books. They make her seem incompetent. All calls go to Middos Man first? She can't go anywhere without Fluffies helping her but Middos Man can?
When my husband reads these books to my kids, when he gets to the page where Middos Man/Malka walks into the scene, he always says something along the lines of, "...and then the kids said, 'Stranger Danger! Get away, random strange adult!'..."
Anon because I've ranted about this to relatives in real life.

Some people really need to get their minds out of the gutter. Everything mentioned here was innocently created. The fact that “you’re” seeing seksual innuendo and perverted older men is a problem on you, not Country Yossi or Middos Man. I don’t love the fact that the songs are based on secular music because that is something I try to avoid listening to, but that’s quite a difference from the above mentioned issues.

Not the problem but victims of the time we live in that makes your mind go that way as a natural reaction instead of the innocent way in which it was intended. Do you honestly think that there were nefarious intentions in either series?

And satirize chariedi lifestyle as was in 1980s etc?
Best enjoyed by the BT movement of 1970 and 80s, who grew up with these songs IRL. |
I’m not BT and we loved those songs at my house back in the day. Chareidi life in the 70’s and 80’s had a lot of parts to it we left behind when we got another generation further from the trauma of the Holocaust and learned all about therapy and watching out for our precious children’s psychological wellbeing. Country Yossi laughed and cried with us and helped us see the humor in our less than perfect lives. That’s good medicine, not just for BT’s.
