I have bought 3 insanely expensive digital cameras for my kids who go to sleepaway camp and they all broke after 1-2 years. They were well taken care of, but the digital components began having issues until they stopped working completely. I have searches high and low for places that fix digital cameras, including a huge camera store 45 minutes from where I live. Apparently there is nothing that can be done these days for digital cameras.

I really can not fathom doing this all over again this summer, shelling out money for something I know will not last. no iPad or phones allowed in camps, not even if only being used for camera function .

Are there any other options? Thanks!

they range from 130-200. I would only pay that if I knew it had a decent life. Anyone ever use this brand?

bumping this thread - looking for a camera for my daughter who is going on a travelling camp so I'd really like her to be able to get nice pictures but not willing to invest more than max $150.

I just got my daughter a Kodak pixpro for about $100. It's not a canon but better than the junky $40 cameras, I think.

Don’t know where OP is from but in Brooklyn there is a great place that fixes cameras-shocked on ditmas. Also might be worth it to invest in a 4 year warranty.
