Is there a way to stretch a roll of gefilte fish to comfortably feed more people?

What would adding eggs and flour do?
Is there another form to cook it in that would stretch it a bit further?

I find that cooking it in fish balls in tomato sauce stretches is further.
I just melt the roll, make the sauce and once is boiling roll balls into the sauce (with very wet hands:)) you can make them pretty small as they blow up a bit

That's a good idea. How do you serve it?

Add a bag of frozen mixed veggies to the sauce and serve over spaghetti. This was my favorite supper growing up. Never realized how it was mother's effort to stretch food

If you melt gefilte fish does it still cook regularly? Why did I think it had to be cooked frozen?

Needs to be cooked frozen if you want to retain the shape. It cooks fine defrosted. Sometimes I'll defrost and shape into patties. Another idea I've seen is to defrost and mix with veggies to make different color layers.. hm.. not a bad idea to stretch it!

Pink tichels recipe:

2 carrots, grated
2 stalks celery, grated

3/4 c. matzo meal
1 c. bread crumbs
duck sauce

Preheat oven to 350. In large bowl, mix all ing. besides for bread crumbs and duck sauce. Place heaped spoonfuls into bread crumbs and form patties. Baked on greased baking sheet for 10 min on each side. Spoon duck sauce over each patty. Cover pan tightly with foil and bake for additional 20-30 min.

Enjoy!! They're delicious!

Variation: instead of duck sauce, you can use tom sauce

I cook a regular frozen roll, but I unwrap it first before cooking. It expands a ton, gets more than double the size

Amazing! Thank you!

What does it mean to place heaped spoonfuls into bread crumbs and form patties?

Mix all ingredients besides breadcrumbs to make a fish batter.
Then scoop out a rounded spoonful of fish batter (like you were forming a meatball) and roll that ball of batter into breadcrumbs- so now you have a breaded meatball. Then pat down the breaded ball to form it into a flatter patty. Repeat until all batter has been used up.
