I have a son who is quite a challenge in the classroom. His Rebbi this year went above and beyond for him and was truly an absolute pleasure to deal with. We gave him a very generous check both chanuka time and Purim but would love to end the year off giving him something more personal than just money that really conveys our appreciation.
Any ideas?

A heartfelt note along with some sort of desktop item?
Or something for shabbos like a platter or something?
I think the note is the most important part. Maybe your son could write something too (depending on what age he is and the circumstances)?

That’s so thoughtful.. how about a nice plaque- they have them in Seforim stores, a gift certificate, a nice bottle of wine, a gift card
Or maybe a picture frame with a Hakaras HaTov from your son..

Agree, or a general gift certificate. I think buying a specific gift is always a risk because it may be something they already have, or don’t need or want.

Whatever you do, package it with a framed photo of the Rebbe and your son.

We give havdala candles. If I have patience, I write a poem about how they sparked the flame or something like that.

The great thing about havdallah candles, is that they are self destructive, and dint add to clutter in the house!

I wouldn’t frame it, I would make it into a card so he can keep it but not necessarily on display. It’s not his child. I make cards and the rebbeim love them.

To make it personal a heartfelt note.
My husband is a rebbi and we don’t keep every gift we’ve gotten over the years. We keep a file with all of the thank you noted he gets.
