Hello to all wise Imamother's Hi

I'm taking my 6 year old daughter next week on 4-5 hour flight.

There will be no in flight screen entertainment provided.
I'm not about to invest in a Dvd-player for just this one time.

What ideas do you have that are not to bulky, nor expensive to take along to entertain herself.

Mind you, we're flying for 3 days.
The ideas need to last for back & forth.

Thanking you so much in advance Not worthy

You want small new toys
-something to color? Finger puppets? Travel games (they make some with magnetic pieces)
Also some activities - activity book, scavenger hunt throughout the travel
Does she read? Books
Talk to her
Maybe earphones and download some story tapes beforehand

Fun snacks

And remember to interact with her and not just be on your device Smile
She'll enjoy your company and time together

take small card games to play together.
eg
rat-a-tat-cat.
Double.
Stories to read to her, or simple stories or picture books for her to look at.

snacks
travel games (she'd probably love if you'd play with her, they have little travel games like connect 4 etc). can also just bring paper and pencils and play games with her like dots/boxes and tic tac toe.
colored paper and crayons/markers so she can make a thank you card for the pilot and stewardesses
coloring books
a device with a story-tape sort of thing, like an ipod, with earbuds for her

Just flew with my daughter, and I picked up a pack of color-able stickers in target. She colored the stickers with crayons then created a scene with them on a paper
They also had some little craft kits like make your own finger puppets that she could play with after

New crayons or markers go a long way.
I just flew with 6 kids on a 14 hour flight with a stopover.
I made a bag with each kid, activity books, coloring books, new markers/crayons, stickers, dollar store type toys etc.
They each chose what they wanted and BH it went very well

Is this your child's first flight? I would make sure to tell her what to expect at the airport and describe the takeoff and landing. Get her a little backpack or a little wheeling case that holds her carry on items. Fill the bag with (just a few) crayons and a coloring book, magnetic dolls with clothing you can change or sticker book where you make "scenes." Include some little snacks like a bag of chips or pretzels, granola or energy bar, a few candies, or even a banana. Add in a little blanket in case she is cold and a little stuffed friend to hug. Also, bring some ear plugs designed for little ears (in the US we have earplanes) and some pain relief for descending. My children always had discomfort on descent. We gave them pain relief at least a half hour BEFORE landing and put in the ear plugs. If that doesn't work, you can ask the flight attendants to put napkins soaked in hot water in the bottom of cups and hold one over each ear. The heat creates a suction and helps decrease the pain. Finally, discuss what to do if (Ch"v) you get separated in a crowded airport. Put identifying information, information about destination, and your cellphone number inside her pocket. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
