I have so many things I need to toivel that are sitting on a shelf.
Curious if there is such a thing as a toiveling service that picks up your stuff, scrapes off all the sticky labels, toivels it for you, and returns it to your home.
(I know many Jewish houseware stores offer this but if you buy on Amazon etc. it's not an option...)

I think Chabad does it when they kasher your kitchen. As a side, is it permissible to toivel something that's not your own? I understood it's an issue. If Chabad does it, it must be ok, just not sure it would work to make a business out of it lechatchila.

I think it's an issue if it's a gift. Like you buy a candy dish and toivel it before filling it and presenting your gift.

I have had this done for me when I had a Kallah at home. I called someone. They picked it up and brought it back toiveled. This is in Lakewood. I can try to find the number again

I would be interested! But it's not like a full set of china... I think right now I have a few mugs, reusable water bottles, a few knives, a pot... basically a bunch of odds and ends that have accumulated over a few months and I only end up toiveling when they reach a critical mass and/or I desperately need to use something

What issue would it be? I dont think there is any halacha as to who has to tovel a didh, the buyer or the owner.

I seem to remember learning that if it is bought as a gift, you can't toivel it as it doesn't belong to you. You can only toivel an item if it is yours. Someone can make you the 'shaliach' which can enable you to toivel on someone's behalf.

There are such services as you see, but AYLOR if they're really ok lefi halacha. AIUI, the obligation is on the user of the vessel to tovel it, and the mitzvah cannot be performed by someone who is not going to use the item. You can't pre-tovel a dish you're giving someone as a gift unless you put food in the dish so you're actually using it. I could have misunderstood but I believe this was in the OU Halacha Yomit around Purim time, the question being something like do I tovel a MM platter if I put wrapped food in it.

How would it differ from hiring a shaliach for any other mitzvah?
