Has anyone used hemming tape for a robe or skirt instead of doing an actual hem? Is it strong enough?

Yes! I love hemming tape, for things like robes and long, full slinky skirts. Just be aware that for some materials the ironing of the tape leaves a very smooth, sort of stiff edge from the tape itself. I’ve had that happen with slinky skirts specifically.
