I went to the doctor with my baby today and they told me that she is not covered with my Jersey Care plan anymore. They said something about her turning 1 and insurance usually needs to verify things when the baby turns 1. I didn't get anything in the mail from anyone letting me know anything. she checked the rest of my kids and they are all covered and eligible. What does it usually mean when only 1 kid is kicked off?

You need to add baby. Sometimes it’s automatically covered under you until 1 year. Call them to add your baby.

We did add her right after she was born.

I'm in NY, not NJ, so it might be different.
Baby up to 1 is under straight Medicaid, after that it switches to Child Health Plus. So you might need get a new ID card and number.

I assume you thought of this , but calling the insurance company will get you the most accurate answer for your specific case.

Yes obviously I will but I won't be able to get to it till tomorrow. Until then I was simply curious if anyone else has had this.

Before Covid you needed to re apply for jerseycare before your child turned 1. I have a gap between kids but I remembered the rule so before my baby turned 1 I panic emailed jerseycare to tell them I hadn’t received an application for my baby. They told me that he renews along with my other kids. So obviously something changed since Covid but I wonder if they messed up with your baby.
Do you have the jerseycare email address? That might be the easiest way to get an answer. Or you can try LRRC

I had this last year, we were in middle of a recertification and it wasn't finished before my baby turned a year so got kicked off. As soon as recertification went through got back on the next month.

I had this too when my baby turned 1 and spoke to insurance. When a baby turns 1 they are automatically renewed under the HMO so there is usully a 1 month lapse since they generally lose coverage the end of the month and then start again the beginning of the month. (So if you lose coverage the end of May you should be back on starting July 1 since the renewal process starts after June 1 and the next coverage start date is July 1) But the baby should be covered under direct medicaid for your pediatrician and prescriptions and emergencies but I would definitely call up your specific pediatrician to confirm. My pediatrician automatically billed direct medicaid but I needed to call up the pharmacy and tell them.
