I was on t mobile for a long time. I’m in a lot of debt and I took all the extras including phone insurance off my plan. And the amount I’m paying is insane. I can’t make payments on time so I had to auto debit my bank account so my cell phone doesn’t get shut down. They won’t unlock my phone or change the payment arrangement. Other carriers charge maybe half. t Mobile won’t even let me downgrade to a cheaper phone. I am really frustrated

Try mint mobile, same network but plans starting at $15/month. I think if you get a promotion (referral from me?) you can try a few months for really cheap/free, but not sure what current deals there are.
I've been very happy with this. I get 5 GB data and unlimited text and calls, and since I'm usually on WiFi, I don't even use all that data.

How much longer are you locked in?
When you buy an expensive phone through the carrier there is not much you can do until the term is up
