Maybe I'm boring or just plain traditional but I make pretty much the same thing every Shabbos.
Friday night:
Homemade Challa
gefilta fish
salmon
homemade tomato sauce
chicken soup with homemade kneidel (and lokshen sometimes)
overnight potato kugel
farfel
I don't make dessert because I am watching and dh doesn't want or need it usually.
Shabbos day:
dip and challah
eggs from chulent
bought liver
homemade kishka
chulent
overnight kugel
maybe bought cole slaw
Again no need for dessert.
This is more or less (homemade vs. bought) what my family served every week so I do the same. I think dh appreciates it because he likes the variety and creativity I bring to the weeks menu, but Shabbos is traditional.

I am so boring that I won't know till tomorrow what we're having! I am going to be out for most of the day at a bar mitzva. All I know is that there is challa in the freezer, and three kinds of kugel. 2 raw chickens in the fridge.
Friday is not a creative day for me.

As I said before, we're going all Indian this week.
Tomato-Coconut Soup
Potato-Corn Fritters with Yogurt-Chili Dipping sauce
Beef Samosas (fake beef) with Cilantro-Mint Chutney
Vegetable Korma
Basmati Rice
Cucumber Raita
Rice Pudding with Saffron, Pistachios and Dried Cranberries
I was also going to make Paneer with Tomatoes and Peas (using tofu instead of paneer) but already have too much to do, so I'll only do it if there's time.

Clarissa, I want to come live in your house. You are so creative, willing to try those exotic recipes. I love trying new recipes, but they tend to be with the same or similar ingrediants that I usually use. Wow!!

From my most fav. cookbook: The taste of Shabbos from Feldheim
If you make this, please let me know how you like it! I REALLY enjoy this recipe.
Polynesian (sorry not Sephardic ) Chicken
8 ckn quarters
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp paprika
3 Tbsp. french dressing or mixture of ketchup and mayo.
1 can pineapple chunks w/ liquid
1 can water chestnuts w/ liquid
1 Tbsp. Soy sauce
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 cup ckn soup
1 cup cooked string beans
Heat oven to 450. Sprinkle ckn. pieces w/ garlic powder and paprika and brush top of each piece w/ dressing. Place skin side down in large roaster ( I use a casserole dish )and roast for 15 min. Remove pineapple chunks and water chestunts from their liquid. Set aside, in a bowl. Combine liquids. Mix in soy sauce, lemon juice mixed w/ cornstarch and ckn soup. Pour this over ckn. pieces. Turn pieces over, skin side up, and return to oven uncovered, for 40 min. Add cooked string beans to the pineapple and water chestnuts. Toss well. Before Shabbos, heat pineapple, water chestnuts, and string beans and place on warm part of blech ( I keep in warm oven ). Do not let it cook. Also before Shabbos, reheat ckn and sauce in a hot oven. At serving time, place ckn. pieces on platter, pour pineapple-chestnut-stringbean mixture over ckn. and pour sauce over all. Serve w/ rice.

Also, in terms of the ingredients, it makes for some complicated shopping experiences for my husband, who get stuck looking for things like green cardamom pods and black mustard seeds. There are usually a few phone calls from the market with questions about English hothouse cucumbers vs. Israeli cucumbers, Vidalia onions vs. Spanish onions, shitakes vs. porcini. I sometimes try to simplify recipes to either save money or save my husband from a nervous breakdown.

Fri night:
Challah + naan
Lemony lettuce salad
Israeli salad
Chummus
Tomato dip
Grilled peppers
Garlic and olive oil dip
Eggplant (not sure what I'll do,a dip or fried chunks)
Fried fish (buying this..)
Apricot chicken
Shnitzel
Meat (not sure what kind yet, probably a roast?)
Vegetarian dish (3 out of 18 people are vegetarian but they always eat more fish, salads etc and nothing else so I'm not worried)
Roasted potatoes
Pilau (indian rice w/ vegetables)
Snap peas with garlic
Apple crumble
Choc cake with a gooey sauce (just found new recipe, I know its overkill to have this too but I can't wait to make it)
Strawberry ice cream
Vanilla ice cream
Fruits- grapes, watermelon, strawberries, blackberries
Nuts
I love having variety
Daytime is just DH and I so I think we're having a little bit of leftovers and I'm making a small cholent/stew.

I haven't thought about my shabbos menu yet. I keep thinking about chocolate covered marshmallows. but I don't have the time. I did make whole wheat pancakes this morning, though, so I feel I've accomplished my time-consuming kitchen duty for the week. so shabbos will probably be two crockpot meals again.

There's no actual coconut in the soup, there's the essence of coconut, used from soaking it and infusing the soup with it. I'd be happy to give you the recipe, if you want it.
