Teaching various grades.. Whats a reasonable rate to ask for in brooklyn ny. Im hearing lowball offers like 65 an hour. I saw someone write on here they get paid 90 an hour. Not sure if it's true or not. Can someone please clarify.

Hey I think it was me that posted I made $90 an hour. I’m sure the rates are going down next year. I think it will be more like $80

(I also know some people bill board of ed direct, but I don't know how they find students for that)
Also I don't have experience with negotiation really...when an agency offers 65 or 70 an hour, do you have any tips on how to respond?
Thanks so so much!

I'm not in your field but in terms of negotiation - "I am really looking for closer to 80 an hour, would you consider that?"
Good luck! Asking for more money is not comfortable but worst case scenario is they can't and you're no worse off than if you hadn't asked.

I was offered 75 and responded that I wouldn’t take the case for less than 90. They agreed immediately. Don’t be embarrassed, just say it like it is. 90 is definitely the norm, though I don’t know what the story will be next year.

Im a people pleaser and its hard for me to ask for more but my family really needs the money. I really appreciate your advice.

I wish they could just offer the going rates, im so uncomfortable with asking for more, I know its something I need to work on though, so I guess here's a good place to start.
