Would you please help an older mother who just never gets these memos.
My teenage girls seem to be embarrassed with me. They point out certain things I wear and tell me that- nobody wears that anymore.
We live in Lakewood. I don’t work so I don’t see people every day. I mean I see random people at the grocery, at an appointment… but no one I’m close enough to discuss fashion and style with.
I know the most important thing is to wear clean clothing that fits well and a nice shaitel with a little makeup…
What should I NOT wear so I don’t embarrass my family?

Yes, I agree but I wouldn’t mind knowing what is considered outdated.

You might get responses here from trendy dressers, but that really won’t help you, because there are so many people who don’t dress trendy in Lakewood and it’s more than fine 😁

In my opinion, if your a mom of teens and your clothing from a few years ago fit, then you are a winner!

Ok in that case, one thing I can think of off the top of my head - short sleeve tops with a shell underneath. V neck tops with shell.

You want to be trendy or just not sorely out of style? Floral are going out, solids are in. A lot of light blues, tans, pink/hot pink, neon accents.
Longer maxi skirts and dresses, with cropped tops can still work.

Well, it might still fit but it doesn’t mean I was thin a few years ago!

I Was never trendy much to my daughters’ dismay. I just don’t want to stand out as looking outdated.
Thank for the tips.

If they say “you’re wearing that????” You know it’s probably outdated
But seriously, why not ask them? My mother used to ask me opinions on her clothes and I’ll sometimes ask my kids (though my girls aren’t teens yet so I don’t take it too seriously yet.)

Off topic, but happy florals are going out, I can’t stand most of them.

I do appreciate my teens input although I might not always take it.
I wear a black shell with a short sleeved top today and I know this is terrible but my teen thinks its cute since it has a square neck and I'm wearing it with a maxi skirt.
So happy to be approved.
And yesterday I wore a blue chunky top with a v-neck (gasp) and big wooden buttons with a black shell again only that sweater has long sleeves so maybe it was a bit more trendy.
I didn't ask for approval yesterday but I loved myself in it so...
