No place near me is paying more unless they have crazy commutes or requirements. I would have to do private practice which I don't have headspace to do more.
One place will pay more but is telehealth only and requires a crazy number of clients a week. And I don't feel telehealth gives the same level of care.

Do you live near Lakewood?

Limudei Kodesh teacher. 22k per year / gross.
Aprox. 18 hrs teaching per week, plus many hours preparing, talking to parents, marking etc.
No benefits. No tuition help.
(My kids aren't in this school, its not for them.)
Put my heart & soul into it and its very fulfilling, but the salary is a joke. Can't see myself sticking with it long term.

Why not. I love telehealth. Used to see therapists in person and I prefer telehealth...

I don't complain so much. Smile Bh at this point I'm prepared enough that a lot of that aspect is gone. I also have leverage in my school (with enough experience) to cut out some of the drugdery aspects of the job. I genuinely love teaching. My other profession could be built up into a full time job but every time I contemplate leaving I just can't imagine. At the same time it is incredibly draining. The heart and soul that I put in can wipe me out. And 43k is nothing compared to the cost of my life. So I have to work many, many more hours. And I have skills that can easily earn much more. But....success in teaching is worth so much to me. Listen, nothing is perfect. And grateful parents make my job so much sweeter.

I'm not saying this about you specifically but in general when people say their salary is so little compared to the cost of their life
What do you mean? People generally get paid for their skill not for the home they bought/ amount of kids they have ect
Is this a jewish thing to expect the work to pay for the life you choose to have or your preferences?

No, but it means that the money might sound nice, but when you compare it to their expenses it doesn't look quite so good. It's not just frum lifestyle. Different cities have higher and lower cost of living. So an income in one city might be fine, but you might not be able to make ends meet with the same income in another city.

It's not about expectations. Most people are working to cover expenses, so it makes sense to compare your income to your expenses.

Not at all. It's just that most jobs have potential for valuable employees. Amazing teachers can't advance too far. That's frustrating for talented women to work so hard and put so much effort in only to be told they have no advancement opportunity. The downsides of teaching for talented women.

Like 65k. I am the main breadwinner. I work 10 mo out of the year and file unemployment in the summer and struggle to put food on the table

ETA: We're on medicaid, I have no PTO, no pension, no benefits. Hate this field and wish I did something better with my time and money. My degree was over 80,000 Sad
