I do wish it would be acceptable for OP to gift her son's kallah whatever she likes without the (very real) fear of it becoming a "standard" that now everyone, rich or poor, is expected to match (or risk hurting the kallah or insulting the mechutonim). I wish I could read a thread like this without sighing at the mental image of Hachnosas Kallah organizations fundraising "so no kallah will forgo her Lag B'omer gift."

I don't even understand the question.
Lag b'omer marks when the students stopped dying and now it's a time for giving gifts? In general or just for new kallahs?
Is this really a thing? In some places/ circles? Or just some random poster decided it's a nice thing to do?
I'm so lost.

It's not a thing.
Don't make it one.

It's a special day but it's not a Yom tov.

I’m feeling a little punchy today.

Maybe along those lines, you can gift the Kallah (and chasson) burial plots. They are not cheap.

Why dont we phrase this as "I want to give her a gift and it coincides with Lag bomer so whats something nice to give that connects to the day" instead of "heres a new standard to set in the gift giving craze for kallas"

I would answer that giving her lichter around now is very appropriate for this chag.

If you already gave that, how about a lichter tray or a silver lighter thing

If its a short engagement and you're looking for occasions to send the gifts then now is the time to send the crossbody etc.

If you have too many occasions and just want to acknowledge her then you can send a wedding countdown type of thing.

Lag BaOmer gifts are NOT NECESSARY and I've never heard of anything doing them!!!! Please, have some rachmanus on the rest of us. I still have three boys to marry off and the standard gifts have been enough of a headache and expense.

Last year I learned from a chassidish friend of mine in Lakewood that in their circles the kallah gets a pocketbook for a gift on lag baomer. It was a new concept to me, a regular Lakewood wife but apparently she said it's a big yt for them🤷. She's not heavy chassidish either, you wouldn't know it when meeting her.
