If I want to buy one type of oil to use for baking, frying, salads, etc, which one?
Cottonseed isn't healthy. Walnut, I read, isn't good for frying.
Olive oil?

Olive oil has a very low smoke point so not great for frying. I use olive oil in salads and avocado oil for any cooking or baking

Olive oil? |
Extra light olive oil is a neutral tasting oil with no odor and a high smoke point. Better for you than cottonseed. Works I'm cakes, kugels, and everything else. Also for frying if you like to fry.

Light olive oil is a very processed oil. Avocado oil is good for baking, cooking, and frying.

I'm confused about olive oil smoke point. Why do some say it has a low smoke point, while others - a high one? Does it depend on whether it's light or extra light?

Olive oil has a low smoke point and is not made for frying.
Extra light olive oil is processed to make it clear and has a very high smoke point. (Not the same as mild olive oil.)

I use avocado oil for baking, frying and cooking all year round. It only tastes bad when it gets rancid.

Oh, so extra light olive oil is processed. What about virgin olive oil?

Virgin olive oil has a low smoke point and should be used for things like dressings.

No way is extra light olive oil anything like cottonseed. Cottonseed is awful for you.
