I thought the 2017 solar eclipse was epic. I wasn’t in the path of totality but really enjoyed the experience.
I am considering traveling to be in the path of totality this time around.
Am I crazy for doing this?
Is anyone living in the path of totality up to date in traffic predictions? Is it really going to be crazy traffic everywhere?
Would love to hear if anyone else is considering traveling to experience the total eclipse |
That's wonderful.
But better to say you love "creation"
Than to say you love "nature".

I had really wanted to go to Minnesota for totality for the 2017 eclipse, but it didn’t work out.
Ever since then, DH told me he’ll take me to the one Rosh Chodesh Nisan 2024. (Actually erev Rosh Chodesh). It always sounded so far away. This past summer we looked at his business hotel points to book rooms, but the system didn’t let us book more than 6 months out.
Unfortunately, DH was Niftar right before Rosh Hashana in an accident.
Our DS23 will IY”H take me to Cleveland.
Here’s an interesting page about the weather during an eclipse:

Syracuse will be 100% for a minute. Buffalo will be 3 minutes I think.

And for those that are saying, "I watched it last time, it wasn't anything special...", were you in the path of totality?
To quote a seasoned eclipse chaser, "the difference between a partial eclipse and a total eclipse is like the difference between a paper cut and stepping on a landmine".
Two completely different experiences. |
I've seen both partial and full eclipse before and the description is accurate!
But once I've seen it, I'm not running to see it again. It was cool but there are other wonders of the world I would quicker run to see.
If you can go to see full eclipse, do it. If you can't, nu nu, there are more important things to do & places to see.

Problem is I don’t know if I could take the time out from Pesach cleaning to go it will be a whole day. |
Keep in mind Rochester is expecting 500,000 visitors. Most likely will be extremely chaotic.
