I have a unique opportunity to travel to Israel for sukkos with my husband and kids. I’m so excited but scared. Is it considered a country at war?

Um, where have you been for the last 10 months. Of course Israel is a country at war! However, depending on where you plan to stay within Israel, you may or may not be affected.
My family will be traveling to Israel for Succos this year for a family simcha. We bought our tickets a long time ago and still plan on going despite the current circumstances.

By the insurance companies, and the airlines, absolutely so.
By the residents, we can never forget that the country is at war, but around Jerusalem and the centre of the country, life continues pretty much as normal. Depending on events, you might want to limit trips to the north or the south.
We can't predict what will happen day to day, but generally feeling we don't feel like we're living in a war zone. Being here for Simchat Torah this year will be uniquely special.

Of course it's a country at war, but I wouldn't be nervous to go to Israel now.

I would go, but you have to go knowing that you can possibly get stuck there for an extra few days weeks longer than you anticipated, in case the flights get canceled etc.
