You should eat it in a restaurant before cooking it if you’ve never had it before. I love it but it’s not for everyone

My favorite meat.

Chops can be fried like steak.

Shanks are delicious braised in red wine.

chops are often very small. You need at least 3, if not 5 per person.
you grill them in a pan.
Shoulder is a bigger piece. You roast it in the oven or dutch oven.

Or you can take a kind of gulash and make stew, broil it and boil in water.

Lamb chops are delicious but I find them pretty heavy. I don't think I could put away more than three (referring to baby lamb chops here)

I think 2-3 pp is plenty unless we're talking teenage boys

I wouldn't say the taste is per se mature adult. I think kids could like it but there are no guarantees. You should really try it first

Please please make sure everyone likes it before serving it! Like my husband can not stand lamb. Lamb smells different and tastes different. Please listen to everyone and taste it first!!

Is lamb fatty? I think as a child we ate it only once. Is it soft when done well?

I personally love lamb. I don’t like meat or steak so much. I buy baby lamb chops, lamb shoulder steaks, lamb shoulder, and ground lamb. My kids who eat meat balls never complained when I switched to lamb, and my baby has only had lamb meatballs. My 7 year old likes shoulder steaks.

My kids love it. I marinade it with salt, garlic, rosemary, and olive oil. Then I grill or broil it like a steak. It's delicious.

Like beef, lamb comes from a relatively large animal and each part of the animal produces a different kind of meat that needs a different cooking technique.

Lamb chops are like the steak in a cattle. There are a few different types of chops. You don’t fry a lamb chop as you either sauté n a pan but the best preparation is broiled with the meat slightly rare.

It is odd that people are asking whether children will like it because lamb chops are a classic children’s meal. Perhaps because they are small and so one makes a perfect serving for a child.

As a kid I had a plate with three sections divided and I remember the chop being in one with peas and carrots in the other and mashed potatoes in the third.

Ground lam is the classic meat used for moussaka and stuffed eggplant. Probably because lamb is a much more common food animal in the Mediterranean versus cattle which require larger pastures for grazing typically.

The other cuts if lamb need to be braised. Lamb stew is classic but there are also delicious braises utilizing shanks and the tougher cuts. These require slow moist cooking.

Leg of lamb is generally roasted but it is not generally kosher.

I love lamb, whether it’s lamb chops or osso bucco

I’m making the small lamb chops for YT, I do it for shabbos when I can, because it’s very easy. I cook them overnight on a low oven and they’re perfect for a shabbos day meal

Most people and kids too have a strong love or aversion to the taste of lamb. Its a very fatty meat. Much fattier than beef.

Maybe try it before planning a yt meal around it to see what you think.

We eat lamb almost every shabbos. Even put it in our cholent.

It's a very specific taste that you either love or find gross. I would say it's for a more mature palate. I don't think most kids would love it, but you never know.

I like using lamb shoulder and cooking it low and slow. There are many great dishes that super easy to make.
