Diarrhea and playgroup

Op, they should have changed her right away so she can be comfortable, but I’m confused why you didn’t come right away once you knew they weren’t changing it. You needed to drop everything and run over.
Also your response that she was fine in the morning doesn’t take away from the fact that your daughter needs you now. Things change with kids and a kid that was fine in the morning ( It’s hard to even know as the morning is so short, but ok) can be sick midday. You as a mother need to have arrangements available in case of a predicament like this.

My daycare's policy is 2 in one day, they get sent home. But OF COURSE they would change the poor baby's diaper! Don't they use gloves and disposable changing paper?! I would pull out so fast. How long did your baby have to stay like that?

I spoke to the head of the playgroup who says they always change but it's going around the school so she told the teachers they can't change now until it curbs and they should call the parent. She says she asked a doctor. I still think it's not ok. I am not sure why they would r change in another spot then. It's honestly really horrible to keep a kid in that.

I left as soon as I can leave. It doesn't work that you can just disappear in middle of meetings when you work for a corporate company. And Honestly this was NOT an emergency at all. If it was a real emergency I happen to have two siblings who send who would take my daughter home if needed and they pick up earlier than me. I'm sorry it's not considered an emergency. And if was an emergency she should've called me and spoke to me what was going on.

I'm shocked that a playgroup would have such a policy.

My baby has been having really runny diapers for the past 2 weeks, and her morahs at daycare never made a fuss about changing her, they just give me the bag of dirty clothes at the end if the day. Sometime they'll change her into a spare set from the daycare if she ran out of clothes I sent.

Before that she was constipated for a while and that was much worse... The pediatrician says sometimes teething can cause runny diapers. She hasn't been sick.

I am just annoyed because my daughter is bh fine and there can be many reasons a child can have a runny diaper. Maybe she ate something or didn't have enough fiber, etc. I feel they should have a conversation before just telling you that they won't change a kid. It's not like my daughter came in and was sick at all. I didn't try to cover anything with Motrin or Tylenol.
What if I send her tomorrow and she has another loose diaper but is feeling fine? I can't keep her home if she isn't sick and pay a lot per month to send her out as I need to work. I also can't get calls that are not an emergency to come get her.

I babysit from home. I hadcase recently where a kid had diarrhea, leaked and everything. I 100% changed her, and just asked she got picked up. Bc it was very bad, and it was the second day it happened. What nonsense is it to NOT change it?!??!

I work in a daycare and if a baby/toddler has 2 runny daipers in a day they they have to stay home until daipers are regular
It's gross but we obviously change the daiper and send home the dirty clothes
I wouldn't call a parent to pick their child up

Playgroup director claims she spoke to doctor and other playgroups and this is what she was told to do.

I can't imagine how it's more sanitary to have the kid dripping it everywhere and not changed wearing gloves and wrapped up in a bag. Does make sense to send the kid home asap if there's stuff going around though

When a kid is in a diaper it’s really easy to contain it. My dd had shigella when she was little and no one else caught it because it’s easy to stay sanitary.

Leaving a baby in a soiled diaper is downright neglectful.

My kids go to licensed daycare and the rule is that 3 diarrhea gets you sent home and out for 24 hours.

For this reason I always pickup after 2, and send them right back the next morning

Your daycare teacher sounds awful. Leaving a baby in a. Dirty diaper is just terrible. And that’s the negligence she tells you about! I’d suggest switching.

I would never feel comfortable sending my kid to such a playgroup how are they comfortable not changing a dirty diaper immediately???
And frankly don't even understand the not sending with diarrhea policy, my kids have diarrhea every time they're teething...

I'm also a playgroup morah and that is just cruel. A morah for such a young age needs to be there for the child 1000%, no excuses. I would not send to a playgroup with such a policy.
I've changed more leaky diapers that I can remember. The child needs to be clean and comfortable and happy. The end. Put on gloves and do the dirty work like a mature responsible adult. It takes 2-5 minutes and you can all move on. I do not like that playgroup morah.
