I am happy that this story has a happy ending. but the police like to always jump to conclusion before they know of any facts.
when my sister baby 7 months old past away. the police came to the house then they tranferred the baby to the hospital the police said we think that u killed the baby. well my sister was on the floor. the hospital doc and everyone knew my sister very well and said look here police this is the baby file. it was long and thick bc she was very ill. infact she died one day after a surgery that didnt go well.... the police then backed down. but believe me I think that when they see a dead child they overreact to it...

I was once at my pediatricians office, she excused herself for a phone call. She put down the phone she was sooo mad. She was saying "these S.S. people are sooo crazy, they grasp on threads just to make a case out of every single stupid thing."

Unfortunately, there are far too many stories where violent abuse goes on for years without anything being done about it...
It is a shanda in both directions.

What about the doctor? Shouldn't he somehow be brought to court? To cause so much pain and finacial loss, it's hard to believe he can sleep at night.

In the US legally you cannot sue a doctor (or any medical or educational professional) for reporting suspicions of child abuse or neglect; they are required to report any suspicion however slight, and are legally protected from being held responsible for doing so. This is to ensure that they will not overlook possible abuse cases for fear of legal action, but of course when they are wrong it is very painful for the family involved and there is no recourse.
