Anyone has anyone that could help guide me on how to get help? She will talk to friends but not teachers?

My friends son had this in early elementary school also and the only thing that worked was a therapist specializing in anxiety disorders for children because selective mutism is an anxiety disorder. Nothing else she tried helped she wasted a ton of money.

I would ask around for a child therapist who specializes in anxiety.

Leah dembitzer in Lakewood is known to work with selective mutism.
Rachelli grnadofsky also works with this

My child is still struggling but we recently discovered that for us it is rooted in a language weakness

Wishing you hatzlacha in whichever route you choose to take. Just know, you should be e-z on your kid, "don't" pressure the child to talk. I was a selective mute kid that was harassed by my parents and teachers to talk. It did me no good, on the contrary, it brought on many more issues.

It is rooted in anxiety
The less you pressure the better it will work
There is a system for teachers to use
Pretty much it is helping the child communicate without needing to talk.
And making the kid feel there was a no reason to talk
I don’t remember details but the parents gave us a dvd to watch

I did it in the classroom and BH child talked halfway through the year( ngl I cried when it happened)

There’s someone really good in Lakewood. She helped a few people I know in a few sessions.

Our school uses this company based in Pennsylvania, but they use zoom too. They help guide the parents, teacher and child.

A few of my children were selective mute. The hardest one we solved following this book: https://www.amazon.com/Selecti.....ss_tl
It worked exactly how the book said it would. It took about 3-5 months.

We created systems where the kid could communicate
For example had a place where the child would pick up a pass to let us know they needed the bathroom
Also had one if thirsty
By circle time we had kids raise hands or some other gesture if they had experience doing different things
Took creativity to shift circle time
We had mother send in mitzva notes highlighting different things ( example if kid got new shoes, grandparents came to visit)
So we were able to react
I wish I would remember more

My son had this all through school and was diagnosed with Asperger's at 12. A speech therapist helped his language "come out".

The teacher who cured my child just didn't expect anything. Joined them in even without words. Told me not to make an issue of it. It took until January but they started talking and that was the end of it.
A few years later, I had the same issue with another child and I told the teacher not to make an issue, to pretend they are talking, by December they were shmoozing with other kids and by February with the teacher. This year, the teacher's complaint is that they never stop talking!

Give them space, time and no pressure.

At the risk of sounding too repetitive- I also am begging you not to pressure your child. BH my DC grew out of the sm , but until that point I had to reallly work on myself not to pressure DC to speak.
Also may be worth it to check your child’s ears / hearing. My DC had undiagnosed hearing weakness which led to language difficulties,and paired with natural shyness , led to SM.
