I actually thought this weeks installment was the best yet. I was waiting for something like this... now everything is finally in the open.
When Esti says - all our marriage problems are because of Dena - and her sister says - are they really? We are finally getting to the crux of the problem.
Dena is not getting her house, Uncle Aharon is no longer ready to bail her out - and we finally get to hear what REALLY happened and the long road of family dysfunction that lead them here.
I have to say this - my family is grappling with a similar issue, and I felt this story is very spot on and true to life- the yerusha fight didn't start when the father died, it started long before that in all the dysfunction the family had until then.
I really enjoyed this installment.

Their father was borrowing money all the time to make his wife happy who wanted Dina to have what she wanted. Uncle Aaron has been helping him to pay the debts off only to have the cycle repeat.

I always have questions like this in Jewish serials, lol. Just me? |
We should have a new thread about it. Wonder what this week's accident is about. Is he in the hospital badly injured? Being arrested cause someone died because of his reckless driving?

True but as often is the case this story has dragged on too long, going around in circles.
It could bring have included more elements. The children are barely mentioned - are they not affected by their parents' lack of sholom bayis. What about Esti's background - does she put up with her cold husband because her mother is also uncaring towards her? What about her father.
I think it could have been more interesting if padded out more.

Esti herself seems barely involved with her children, aside from giving them pizza and putting them to bed.
Let Dina and Yossi (?) take over the mother's house on the condition she lives with them. Ari can keep Mimi on the straight and narrow by telling her that if she acts up, he'll send her to live with her mother et al. Esti & Eli, after intense therapy or maybe a week locked in a hotel room alone, have a chance at getting their marriage back on track. But she can't leave him now, that's just mean.
(Yeah, Ari & Esti sounds good but no chance.)

I was wondering about Esti's relationship with her kids....she gives them food and puts them to bed but there is any any reference to her conversations with them, details about them, or even their names.....are their names mentioned in the serial at all?
it's like she has three little dolls living with her that need food/water/baths etc but they don't have thier own personalities, likes/dislikes or interests...

It did drag on for a long long time, but this past weeks installment, I thought, was really good as it brought up some good points (is their marriage in trouble only because of dena? Or was there something deeper there before?) Because obviously their marriage problems are not about dena, it's much more deeply rooted than that. And also answered some questions that I had had all along.
Basically Eli is following in his father's footsteps perpetuating whatever issues his father had - which is very common. And his mother is 1000% to blame, I wouldn't be surprised if shes really the narcissist all along. Forcing your husband to "borrow" money to pay for things you don't really need, or to put his business in jeopardy for the same, is not ok. And how does a normal mother turn her back on her son because he's not funding his sister's luxuries??? All the drama and needing to go to the hospital every minute... I'm suspicious. I'm not sure if there's one normal person in the whole Beckman family tbh.
Maybe the author can write a sequel exploring that - there's room there for another novel, at least.

The mother is probably the unhealthiest character of all. She made Dina into a monster. She chose Dina over the rest of the family. Let everyone else fly a kite only Dina has to get what she wants. She allowed Dina to ban Eli from being able to see her. She allowed Dina to bring him to court.
She raised a monster!

This story has me in a twirl, I now changed my mind again. It is the mother who is the entire enabler. Drove her husband to a heart attack. Raised Dina to be a total brat and the the two of them united against the family. Sad sad sad.

Eli will buy the house in his name (what with?). Dina can live rent free in the basement and he'll rent out the rest of the house. If she hassles their mother he'll throw her out. If she behaves she can have the house at some point.
Miri calls Esti upset again. Esti tells her they have to be firm with Dina.

Is there some deep dark secret about dina mom is hiding? Was she adopted? Was mom married previously and dina is from that marriage? Was dina lost on a trip as a child and mom feels guilty? Did dad borrow money from shady people and dina was threatened or kidnapped?
And that’s why mom gives her everything?
You can tell that I like to read murder mysteries.

No to all
Dina is spoiled brat with a personality disorder and mom wants to keep her happy or endure her wrath
I have such family members; I know
