The above of course.

For me, it's the center pieces. Also, the tablecloth. You can set the tone with it.

For me it’s always the vibe. When no one feels pressured and everyone is just happy

When everyone there, from wherever, comes together over something. The music can make a big difference. And if there is a speaker, they have to be very real.

In my experience, it's a combination. The food is a big one. If there are kids, have something for them to do whether it's entertainment or a craft. Enough seating so people can enjoy comfortably. Music playing loud enough to hear but not loud enough to ruin conversations. And the decor really does make a difference in making your party more of an 'experience.'

Music. Not too loud, gives the right tone. It makes all the difference!

What does a wow factor mean to you? What are you looking to accomplish?

When I just moved to a new city, we were invited out to 2 different families for shabbos meals. The first one had an immaculate house, beautiful tablescape, and lots of delicious trendy dishes. The second one looked like her kids had helped her set the table, she served good old fashioned food and the atmosphere was relaxed and warm.

Guess whose family I would look forward to going to again?

The one with the wow factor - I felt like she was trying to say "look at me, look what I can do", the second one I felt like she was trying to say "I want to get to know you - I want you to feel welcome".

I assume you mean WOW as in fancy

The decor, for sure, makes it or breaks it.
If you give out cool party favors, that also helps.

Just delicious food on its own is not enough.

I once went to a tzedaka event, where they had a singer who managed to get the whole crowd up dancing and singing. I'm generally a shy quiet type but I remember coming home from that party on a high. I think.a program that gets everyone involved makes the event..

Although not always possible, when the host of a simcha takes a minute to say hello it means a lot to me. Food wise I love when there is a healthy option so I can feel like I am participating without feeling guilty. Also I love when there is something new and unexpected that we haven't seen at every other event. For example, wayyyy before empanadas were trendy, or even well known in the American frum community I had some at a wedding and it was super cool. I'd rather see something unique than something that fits all the trends. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive but if there was, say, an Ethiopian or an authentic Caribbean dish on the menu I would remember it for years to come.
