I wore vontact lenses for over 30 years and then they slowly started bothering me more and more. I switched over to glasses about 10 years ago. My husband also likes how I look and then better but I don't really wear them in the house anyway. But if we have a simcha I take some pictures with them on and some of them off. I see why don't you just give it a try could be that your eyes if you need a break. It's always good to have glasses just in case I understand you can't go back and forth but you never know when they might bother you.

Another person with astigmatism here! I always switch off between lenses and glasses to give my eyes a break. It's actually advisable to do so. Many times people who exclusively wear lenses can't wear them anymore because they have damaged their eyes. It is much healthier to wear glasses a few times a week.

It has been a year....
I bumped in my thread now a year later, so I will share a quick and final update,

A few days before my DH birthday a bought a cute pair of glasses with fake prescription lenses,
When he arrived home on his birthday I wear it proudly plus I prepared a delicious meal,
My DH was so shocked on the afford I did to make him happy that se simply burst out crying,

That night all my doubts vanished,
The next day I want to the optical store I put in regular prescription lenses and since Then I'm wearing glasses daily,
My DH loves how I'm good looking, I don't mind wearing them,

I'm actually looking now to buy a new pair already.
Any advice for cut glasses frames would be appreciated...

The moral of the story...
Don't be afraid to do something different..

OP her,

I would like to add one thing, I have a slight form of astigmatism and per my eye doctor I cannot switch back in forth between glasses and lenses, (I will get dizzi)

so it would be impossible to switch daily.
I also have an astigmatism and I've never heard that. It might take my eyes a few seconds to readjust, but that's it.
Lol, unfortunately my DH hates how I look in glasses, but since I have very dry eyes, I usually only wear my lenses for Shabbos. Oh well.

Get plano glasses (nonprescription lenses) and wear them over your contacts at home when your dh is around. What's the problem?

okay I wasn't sure if I should post it here or under shalom bayis,
so I'm married 2 years BH with a wonderful husband we understand and love each other,
recently we walked into an optical store to pick up lenses for me(I have a very low number) and while we were waiting I tried on several different glasses frames for the fun of it, my husband complimented me on how good-looking I am with glasses and that was it,
later that day he mentioned again how he loved me with glasses since then he keeps on telling me that,
one night I asked him why he keeps telling me that he admitted he wished I would start wearing glasses because it makes me look intelligent and more attractive even though I'm good-looking as is, he assured me that he loves me either way, and he would never demand them from me.

now, I really wanna make him happy even if he doesn't dement it, I know he would be thrilled,
however, I never wear glasses before and I feel so awkward showing up to work/family gatherings with glasses,

also, today most trending glasses are oversized plastic or metal, it is a really big adjustment going from nothing on your face to oversize frames on your face all day.

any advice would be appreciated (please don't tell me my husband is a manipulator, he never asked me to change, I wanna do it for him)

I would be wary of doing anything to make yourself “look intelligent” because someone said that.

I wear contact lenses and am secure enough in my own intelligence that I don’t need a prop to make me look the part. Eye glasses = myopia or hyperopia, not intelligence. 🙄

I don’t like old threads being bumped up. People respond before they realize it is an old thread.

Your story is great for you, but I detest wearing glasses Vs lenses so wouldn’t do this. Not that my DH would want me to. My intelligence isn’t dependent on my eyewear…

You don't get,I didn't say people should wear glasses based on "looking intelligent" or DH pressure,

My story was unique, My DH preferred something that I don't mind wearing to make him happy,
In the beginning I hesitate because of the change, but then I realized it's nothing, and I'm actually enjoy now to wear my Glasses daily,

I do get it. In your original post though, you said your DH thought that wearing glasses made you “look intelligent” and I responded to that before realizing the thread is old. I don’t ordinarily reply to old bumped-up threads.

My husband is the same.
I started wearing glasses more and more and now people don’t even say anything about my wearing glasses even though I was never a glasses person.
Also they say glasses are better for eyes if u work on computer a lot which I do.
Let’s just say since my transition to glasses my intimate life has also significantly improved

Not all DHs notice. When I wear glasses sometimes at home, my DH doesn’t suddenly want to jump my bones because I am not wearing my contacts. They are my eyes, he doesn’t care what I wear on them. 🙄

I don’t wear glasses out of the house as I find them annoying for sports and driving.

Obviously the point isn't for everyone to wear glasses. The point is that op was willing to go out of her comfort zone to TRY something she knew her dh found attractive. It turned out that she actually liked it herself, and they are both happy. I think this is a beautiful message for all of us, whether in the realm of marriage, children, parents, work, or other relationships.

Off topic, but I’ve never thought glasses made anyone more s-xy. Notice there are no models wearing glasses? This is a first one for me.

Not everything is about models.

I wear very high end designer glasses. And I don’t mean Gucci. Way ahead of that.

They are quite magnificent on my face if I may say so myself
