I think only extra drinking helps, but some foods do make fasting easier.

Hmm from what I gather from you ladies looks like I'll have challah, shnitzel, copius grapes and watermellon and lots of vit. H2O. :-)

How do you prepare quinoa when you're going to be eating it cold or room temperature?) Thanks!

Same as how we eat it hot. It's delicious cold.
Soak the quinoa for 1/2 hour or so to get the bitterness out.
Saute onions. Add quinoa to toast a bit. Add boiling water 1:1 ratio with the quinos. Let the water be absorbed. Chill and eat cold. Delicious.
You can add whatever you want to it. We like it plain.

I don't understand the mad rush for food on Erev Tisha Be'Av. True it's Shabbat but you don't have to pack it in. In fact, you will probably fast easier with lighter fare.
Before Yom Kippur we have an inyan of eating twice. YK is a Yom Tov. Tisha Be'Av is a day of mourning. On a regular TB we would eat a lentil dish ("poor" food) and an egg with ashes on it. Amazingly, the complex carb of the lentils and the protein of the egg are just perfect to keep you going through the long fast-day.
It's always recommended to eat complex carbs if you need carbs (bagels are not complex) so as to minimize the sugar rush and lengthen digestion time. Fruits and veggies, which are full of water, are also good options. Milk foods can be heavy and sour in your stomach so are probably not the best idea. And drinking tons of water is the best thing you can do for your body.
You really don't need to overload yourself before a fast. It will go easier the lighter you eat.

If I stuff myself before a fast I find that I do not get hungry until late in the day. I have tried eating lighter but I just wake up with a grumbling stomach........
