ok, now my father joined the club in telling me my apartment is too small and I must do it elsewhere. ANYONE know of a CHEAP school/shul/place to rent???

I'm not trying to be obnoxious, but if they're the ones complaining can they offer a place to host or cough up the cost of a place to rent?

You could make it in your apt and invite people for different times eg some people from 4-6 and some from 6-8. If they don't mind not being there at the same time then do that.

I was going to suggest the shul. I think it's the holiest place to do it. Some shuls charge for that, really?? I had my dd's naming for free at my shul, and they even dealt with finding minyan themselves.

Maybe a yeshiva dining hall. Is he going to have a melamed with all the minhagim? If so see if he has a suggestion. Another option is to speak to the rebetzin, they almost always know these things. Also ask a tzedaka org if they know of a place.

thanks guys. we decided just to squeeze everyone and if anyone feels too crowded tthey can just leave Smile R' Katz- how much is not too expensive? the places I called were at least 250. You know how many groceries we can get for that money?? (Sorry, I'm a little frustrated by people telling me it's a simcha, just spend the money! No, none of them are sponsoring.)

that's the spirit, I wouldn't mind squishing for an upsherin, besides, people will probably be in and out anyway.
